Surgery Center

Our brand new state-of-the-art Takle Eye Surgery Center is located in Locust Grove, GA. Procedures performed include cataract surgery, pterygium surgery, eyelid surgeries such as: blepharoplasty, ptosis repair, eyelid reconstruction surgery after skin cancer removal.

To help you recover rapidly without experiencing pain from the operation, and to make you feel comfortable, you are given similar medications as you would get if you were having a colonoscopy. You should expect to be in the operating room for 15-30 minutes depending on surgery performed and recovery room for an hour. Your total stay should be less than half of a day.

Immediately After Your Surgery

You will receive specific written instructions for your care after surgery. Arrangements should be made in advance for someone to drive you home the same day as your surgery. You should plan to go home and rest. Most patients require no pain medication. A protective eye patch should be worn over the operated eye at night for the first night if having cataract surgery. Eye drops must be placed in the eye several times a day for a few weeks. The following day, you will need to return to the office so we can check your eyes.

In most cases, your vision should being returning to normal quickly. However, the healing process will take several weeks, and your need for eye glasses will continue to change as your eye heals. You are allowed to resume most normal activities the day of surgery. You can watch television, read, sew and generally continue your normal lifestyle.

Your Care After Surgery

We take pride in taking care of our own patients and will be seeing you one day, one week, and one month after your surgery. Since your family doctor doesn’t do eye surgery we usually feel it is in the best interest of the patient that the surgeon who operated on you to see you after your surgery. We have a network of optometrists who sometimes send their patients in for cataract consultation and in those situations we send you back to your optometrist for continuity of care and possible fitting of glasses if necessary. If you have been referred to us by your family doctor, Dr. Takle Jr. and your optometrist (O.D.) will be working closely together as a team to provide you with total eye care services.

Cost and Payment

Outpatient cataract surgery at the Takle Eye Surgery Center is not only state-of-the-art, but also the safest, most cost-efficient method of restoring your vision. The restoration of vision is our first concern. If you need cataract surgery, we will not delay, postpone or cancel your surgery because of inadequate finances. Cataract surgery is covered by Medicare, Medicaid and most insurance companies. Our office will file all insurance claims for you. Our staff will be happy to answer any questions you may have regarding financial information.
